One number
The line is 80 cm.
For Indian women, waist matters more than BMI. Measure once. Write it down. This number does not diagnose you. It is a reason to do a blood test.
For Indian women
80 cm
- 1
Stand. Breathe out.
Don’t hold your stomach in.
- 2
Find the right spot.
Halfway between your lowest rib and the top of your hip. Usually just above the navel. Not at the belt you like.
- 3
Tape straight. Snug, not tight.
Keep the tape level all the way round. Read it after a normal breath out.
- 4
Write it down. Repeat each month.
Same tape, same spot, same time of day. Month to month, waist tells a clearer story than the scale.
80 cm or more does not mean something is ‘wrong’. It means a blood test is worth doing — even if the scale says you are fine.
